CONCEPT
The house’s modest form and palate of materials place it unpretentiously within its surroundings, allowing the natural environment to carry the day. The formal configuration of Farm House is described by simple, geometric, and additive forms which orient to the front and back yards with outdoor patio space intended to provide sun and shade as desired. The home flows to these exterior living spaces in all directions, maximizing the connection to the outdoors with the use of bi-fold doors. The layout is clean and simple, with an exterior palette of limestone masonry and cement finish. The form is supported on concrete columns and simple concrete shear walls, minimizing the impact of construction on the site while allowing the slope to flow under the house without interruption. In this way, the house preserves the landscape as it was found and intensifies the reading of the slope – allowing the boulders in the site to remain untouched.
Concrete, Sandtone masonry and powder coated metal frames all reinforce how these materials find their way from the exterior to the space within. The interiors concept is envisioned as bright, simple, and functional family space described by natural materials and flooring that find their way from the exterior to within. Built Over the rocks to avoid the flow of water draining through the site and moisture, in a forest glade to receive the sunlight, all while taking in the best views towards the Himayathsagar Lake.
